Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert
The historic Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is one of the "Plus Beaux Villages de France" ("The most beautiful villages of France") and is really worth a visit. In 806 Saint Guilhem established the monasrty of Gellone here and it is still standing today. Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is located along the Routes of Santiago de Compostela and for this reason has been granted UNESCO world heritage site status.

Carcasonne

The famous walled medieval city is a UNESCO world heritage site and truly takes your breath away when you first see it. It is an unbelievable place, if you like history then you should really try and visit. The route from Faugéres also takes in the Canal du Midi, a marvel of 17th Century engineering, which is also a UNESCO world heritage site.


Pézenas

The nearby town of Pézenas also oozes history and is famous for it's association with Molière, the French playwright. Pézenas is a great place to go shopping as many local artisans are based there and the narrow medeival streets are lined with shops. The best time to go is in the evening as this is when Pézenas really comes alive. Pezanas is also a great place to eat out.
