Local Walks
The Three Windmills
Walk out of the front door and turn left and keep on heading upwards until you reach the windmills that Faugères is now famous for. The walk is all uphill and quite steep but thankfully not too far. It is also a great test of fitness to see if you can run all the way up without stopping. The views from the top of the hill over the coastal plains with vineyards as far as the eye can see and the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Languedoc are beautiful.
The Faugères Windmills have recently been restored to their former glory and one of the windmills is now a fully working mill again. Follow the story here.
Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert
If you go to Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert why not walk up to the ruined Visigoth castle that overlooks the village. It is a steep walk to the top, but well worth the effort.
Cirque de Mourèze
If you like rock formations then this is the place to come. The landscape is litter with dolomitic shapes. There are lots of trails in this area both in Cirque de Mourèze and around nearby Lac du Salagou.
